Gitzo™
A Vitec Group brand

Thanks to its unique expertise in composite materials, Gitzo developed a new High Performance basalt fibre tube. The new tube comes from a radical innovation of the Poltrusion process, the aerospace technology used by Gitzo to manufacture its composite tubes in one single step, starting from the raw fibres. Fibres are wet in the special resin and then pulled through a high temperature core that generates the tube as we know it. This works perfectly with 6X carbon fibre tubes, while basalt fibres absorb a smaller quantity of resin and this reduces tube density and performance. To overcome this physical limit ... read more...
G-Lock ensures outstanding performance and a surprisingly user friendly approach. It is easier to operate than the traditional lever locks even with gloves and without damaging nails or finger tips. The special design guarantees a secure lock even by applying a limited amount of torque and an easy opening even in case of over tightening.
While offered in a new color scheme, Basalt range retains the superior quality and a complete set of features that make Gitzo the leading brand in the market. The sleek functional design, a user friendly approach and the accurate manufacturing ensure a fully satisfactory, long lasting experience.
Series 2 and 3 tripods feature the aluminium power disc, with an additional locking screw to securely lock the head into position. For low angle shooting, the upper disc can be mounted directly on the top casting thanks to the Ground Level Set feature (for all series). The 1/4” – 3/8” attachment screw is quickly reversible thanks to the new user friendly design.
The new High Performance basalt fiber tubes is 15 to 22% stronger thanks to the innovative DRI technology. By getting closer to the Gitzo 6X unmatched performances, it is a high quality alternative to competitors’ carbon fiber tripods.
